Chinese Proverb:
"When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others."

The first two Sutras:

1. Now, the Inquiry of Yoga.

2. Yoga is the stilling of the thought waves of the mind.

Yoga is about clearing away whatever is in us that prevents our living in the most full and whole way. With yoga, we become aware of how and where we are restricted -- in body, mind, and heart -- and how gradually to open and release these blockages. As these blockages are cleared, our energy is freed. We start to feel more harmonious, more at one with ourselves. Our lives begin to flow -- or we begin to flow more in our lives.

AB FAB ABS
Life is short, summer is shorter: get fit, sexy abs with this quick power-filled abs and core workout.

VINYASA CORE
Vinyasa Core is a 75 minute vigorous yoga class that builds strength, increases flexibility, and encourages focus.  We work through sun salutations, core strengthening exercises, as well as standing, balancing, and spine exercises. The class is a challenging and rewarding experience. Some prior yoga practice recommended.

KUNDALINI YOGA
Kundalini Yoga is a tantric yoga, its aim is to awaken the Kundalini Energy (dormant at the base of the spine) through the practice of kriyas and meditation: combined postures, stretches and movements, breath work, as well as mantras and mudras in meditation.
KY is called the yoga of Awareness as its practice deepens awareness of the Authentic Inner Self. It’s a very powerful practice that will increase your vitality and self-healing, energize and balance your glandular and nervous system, strengthen the core of your body, clarify and uplift your mind…

"Kundalini yoga classes are a dynamic blend of postures, pranayam, mantra, music and meditation, which teach you the art of relaxation, self-healing and elevation. Balancing body and mind enables you to experience the clarity and beauty of your soul. No previous experience in yoga is required for you to achieve results with your very first class. Men of great knowledge actually found out about the chakras – their workings, their petals, their sounds, their infinity, their co-relationship, their powers. They found that the life of a human is totally based on these chakras. This total science gave birth to Kundalini Yoga."
Yogi Bhajan, The Aquarian Teacher

SLOW FLOW

Moderate level hatha yoga, beginning with warm-up stretches, followed by a slow flow of postures—forward bends, backbends, warrior poses, twists and balancing—mostly in a sun salutation framework.  A slow flow, where postures are linked together, but held for a few breaths, allows for deep opening, strengthening, and reflection.  Beginners and more advanced students are also welcome as instructor adapts class to the students, providing modifications and variations as needed.

HOT YOGA

A less military style than Bikram yoga, Yoga East Hot Yoga examines 26 sequential postures, with improtu or prolonged focus on breathwork, particular stretches, core strength, muscle lengthening, alignment and balance. TOWEL REQUIRED. Your OWN MAT, requested.

ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS

(Beginner) Wear comfortable clothes, such as sweat pants or shorts and a tee-shirt. Leave your shoes and your self-doubt outside the door and learn the very basics of yoga so you can enjoy the realm of other classes in no time.

JERASANA VINYASA

Explore the play between breath and movement to this fun and motivating 75 minute practice.

KRIPALU Hatha Yoga flow

Experience a wide range of postures built from the ground up. Focus on linking breathe to movement, centering, alignment, and exploring your edge. Stretch your boundaries and come out feeling on top of the world.

YIN YOGA

Definitions such as "It is the balancing practice for your yang style of yoga" or "It is yoga for the joints, not the muscles" are not overly satisfying. If students haven't heard of Yin Yoga, they won't know what a yang style of yoga is. And isn't all yoga good for the whole body, including our joints?

Yin Yoga has the same goals and objectives as any other school of yoga; however, it directs the stimulation normally created in the asana portion of the practice deeper than the superficial or muscular tissues (which we are calling the yang tissues). Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice.

Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.

While initially this style of yoga can seem quite boring, passive, or soft, yin practice can be quite challenging due to the long duration of the poses.  You need to experience this to really know what Yin Yoga is all about. After you have experienced it, even just once, you will realize that you have been doing only half of the asana practice.
